Starting A Small Craft Business?

Bird lady asked:

Any attorney’s or legal advisors out there know how much you can earn making and selling small crafts before the IRS would actually consider it a business? I was thinking about selling some of my hand made crafts to area stores, etc, but I want to do it correctly and “by the books”. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ! Thank You.

How do I start an online store?

suerone asked:

I recently became interested in crafting, fashion designing, and any type of art that I use my hand to create as some sort of extra-curricular activity. I am also interested in finding out how to put everything online for people to use their credit cards and buy my Art anywhere in the world and I ship to them. How do I open an online store though?

* In recent months the value of the dollar relative to other countries such as euro has fallen. Explain the effect such a change has on all of the following.

1. Your monetary incentive for going to europe.
2. The cost of an imported German Car.
3. The competitiveness of hand crafted jewelry that you are making and would like to sell to European department Stores.
its my homework question, just assume that happens!!

Does Anyone Know Anything About An Artist Named Kilander?

robinseggs asked:

I would like to find information about an artist/designer named Kilander. I don’t know their first name or gender or country of origin (possibly Sweden, or the U.S.). I found a beautifully designed cast resin wall piece in a thrift store. It was hand-signed (in permanent ink, on the back): “Kilander 1986.” It has a very professional quality to it. It’s done in an Arts & Crafts/Art Nouveau/Euro Folk style. If anyone knows anything about an artist who might have done this type of work, I would love to hear about it. Thank you.

need advice, info, tips on how to work on plastic canvas, how to knit & crochet?

fox asked:

I need any leads, advice, tips or places I can go on the internet or name of booklet found in craft store I can buy that will help me learn how to do the following crafts…KNITTING, CROCHET, and PLASTIC CANVAS!!!

I really need especially in the book or booklet format or instruction off the internet the simplest easiest way how to learn these crafts. I never did any of them before I have no clue how to do them. Im right handed if that helps or even matters, & I really need the most simple straight forward way how to do these crafts, not to put myself down or anything but I’m not too swift when it comes to these things I wish I had one on one instruction but I dont have the money or there is no adult school classes around me Its pretty rural so NO SUGGESTIONS IN THAT DIRECTION PLEASE

Im really intersted in all the crafts but the plastic canvas I want to know if you have to have any real talent to do that one? It appears to be the easiest one of all 3 so my real focus is on this

A question about clock movements?

BNW88 asked:

I want to make a clock out of an LP (Wish You Were Here with the image of the robots shaking hands). I don’t like the sound of ticking clocks. Do they make ten dollar movements that don’t tick, cause I still haven’t seen one in craft stores?

Frugal wedding tips- can you cut this budget for me?

melaniecampbell asked:

Okaaay!
I have the following left to pay for for the wedding that is September 6th.

DJ- $200
Minister-$200
Marriage license- $100
Bridal party gifts (4 of them) $150
candy buffet (instead of favours) $150
groomsmen golfing morning of wedding- $100
wedding bands- $300
clothing for our kids to wear to wedding- $125
rehersal dinner night before for close family/friends- $250
Hair/makeup- $100
thank you cards for after wedding & shower- $40
Rest of the catering bill- $400 (parents are paying other $3000)

I am thinking about skipping getting my hair & makeup done and doing it myself. I am buying basic blank cards from a craft store and stamping my own thank you cards. We have a contract with the DJ otherwise we would just use a laptop for music… but we can’t now.
We’re not handing out favours, but having a candy buffet. Buying candy in bulk, putting it in bowls and stamping white paper bags with our wedding colours and design.
how can I cut down on bridal party gift costs? I paid for their dresses. I am really trying to keep their gifts at around $100, not the budgeted $150… was thinking about framing a nice picture of me with each of the girls and giving them as gifts, along with a mini spa kit (bath bombs, lotions, scrubs, etc).
I just bought the dress for my daughter on clearance for $19- now my son needs khakis, a white golf shirt, and both kids need shoes.
Was thinking about how to spend less on the rings- a brushed white gold/titanium/silver band for hubby, and a white gold band for myself. Where is the cheapest we can get them? Online is fine, as long as they will arrive on time.
I also need to buy the following–

tea lights
spool of raffia
white paper bags
placecards & bulletin board for place cards
mini plant pots with greenery in them
tulle
green and chocolate brown ribbon
some fake green button mums or something similar
a big wreath form to make a wreath with the flowers

any ways i can cut down these costs even more? I only have like $2000 TOPS for the rest of this! And what is the ettiquette on tipping the caterer/minister/dj?

Thanks!

Full Lace wig installers in Los Angeles?

Yes we can! asked:

Hey everyone, I am an african american woman who suffers from alopecia at my temples. I guess that would be called traction alo[ecia. Anyway, I have been browsing the internet for almost 2 weeks now for a beauty supply store or a hair stylist who specialize in full lace wigs and it’s application. I’ve known for some time now that Beyonce and other stars have worn these undectectable wigs but i didn’t know that these wigs are now sold to the public, hand crafted by stylist, and applied to non celebrity clients at a reasonable price. Needless to say I am unable to find a hair stylist or a beauty supply store in my area who sell full lace wigs atleast non who know about the product they are selling. Can anyone help me find a stylist/installer or someone who hand craft these wigs. I’ve already stubbled on a great site www.mslola.com, however I don’t have the time, the patience nor the knowledge to order a custom made lace wig.. Help Plese!
Thank you!

Online gift store question?

Bazar asked:

I want to open an online gift and favor store. I’ve crafted some favors by hand for clients and I am getting a little overwhelmed with orders and I was thinking of opening an online store instead. My problem is that I am a little confused about manufacturers and stuff. I want to open something like www.redenvelope.com. But I’d add gift baskets and wedding favors to it. Where would I find a company to produce those gifts for me if I design them?

Whats a whole sale price?

greenie asked:

I am making hand made crafts and they sell like hot cakes on the net. I’ve received an email from someone wanting to buy “whole sale” to sell at her craft store out of state.
The current sell price is $15 per item + shipping. What would be a reasonable whole price per 10 or per 20 items. I am totally clueless when it comes to this stuff. Thanks!!
“whole sale price”

sorry for the typo…got too excited :)

Looking for artisan or world import store around Cleveland West side. Need special birthday present?

the diva asked:

I want to buy my sister in law something special for her 60th birthday. Are there any places, without going to Murray Hill and the east side, where I can get her something hand-made? Are there any true imported crafted items stores, not chains like World Market? Or, someplace can maybe buy some art glass? Murano?

I live in North Ridgeville
Or, a gift shop with really unusual stuff?

I should mention that I am agoraphobic and would rather not venture too far. Also, it there was a single place where I might have luck, rather than browsing several stores, it would be much more comfortable for me.

That’s why I’m asking the question instead of going off on an adventure. (which would be great fun if I could do it.)
