Well I bought a flower pot and painted it lol, but depending on what she likes you could do a number of things - make candles, picture frames, jewelery, paint serving dishes/glasses etc….you could just walk through the craft store you’re bound to run into numerous ideas just walking through the aisles.
A shadow box is a great idea…take a couple pictures and some pretty fake flowers or embelishments and put them in the box. You can buy a shadow box at walmart and stain it.
Or make a mini scrapbook. You can buy really little ones and they are quick and easy.
You could decorate a frame and put your fav pic in it.
You can buy a breakfast in bed tray and put pictures under the glass with some nice quotes.
You can make a chest. Buy one of those wooden chests at joanns and line it with fabric and stain it or whatever you want. Then fill it with treasures (a frame with a picture of you and her, her fav candy, a movie, funny jewelry, etc)
Why not go to a hobby craft store and look and see what catches your interest. If nothing does ask someone that works there i am sure they will be more than willing to give you some ideas.
good luck

How about a decorated photo frame.
choos one of the other answers. You’ll find something good there, (I mean it!).
I’m an art student so my folks generally get whatever I have a class in. Some spiffy stuff my mom has liked includes: handmade jewelry, a painting, and some photos. If you have a decent camera, I recommend an interesting photograph as the easiest and cheapest of these options.
Hi:
My daughter and I are making T-shirts for both of her grandmother’s…We are Using plain white T-shirts.(But you can use whatever color plain T-shirt you want) We are using paint and glitter that we bought from a craft store…and first we used a crayon and Wrote Happy Mother’s Day then we traced along the crayon with glue and added glitter to the shirt. (For best results get glitter in different colors and finish decorating the shirt however you like)..We also drew pretty hearts all over the shirt with the crayon added glue then glitter..Painted the inside of the hearts red (or whatever color you like) then sprinkled a little glitter over the painted hearts while the paint was still wet. (sprinkle a little bit of glitter in the hearts, not a lot). Now you are done..You can also decorate the back of the shirt if you like.
Perhaps you could start with something more personal, like a picture frame. buy a small wooden picture frame…a pastel color or white would be best… then purchase some small assorted sea shells (sometimes they’re in small bags) You can paint them with pastel or bright colors.. Glue them in evenly-spaced places on the picture frame… Or you could use bright colored or fancy buttons (get in fabric store) instead. Finish off with a silk fabric flower( glue on upper right-hand corner ) Put in a nice picture of you or whatever you want) You could also use ribbon tied into a bow for the corner(glue to frame) Presto !! Custom frame for “Mom” !!
Since its so close to the day I would say a small 7X7 scrapbook album. With pictures of you and your mother in it and some writing (journeling) about how much she means to you and why. If you need help with ideas try about.com
